Ada Safari is
a natural lake on the peninsula Ada Ciganlija, between the river Sava and the
Čukarica sleeve, in Belgrade, 5 km from the city center. The lake is shaped
like the letter S, measuring approximately 6 hectares and average depth of
about 2 m. It is primarily intended for sport fishing, but is also open to
other visitors. It is surrounded by a thick hundred year old trees.
Ada Safari is
surrounded by dense forest. Around the biggest part of the lake there is a path
for walking, which can be used throughout the year. There is also a mini zoo,
with rabbits, goats, pheasants, ducks, swans, peacocks, guinea fowls, pigeons. In
the immediate vicinity is located children's theater course "Robinson's
Island," which is especially active during the summer months.
In addition
to domestic ducks and geese, the lake is permanently or occasionally a habitat
for different species of wild birds, the most important being a wild mallard be
regularly seen and gray heron, little cormorant and the kingfisher. On trees
and in the bushes around the lake their home are hooded crow, the green
woodpecker, large woodpecker, pigeon, great tit, blue tit, nuthatch, little nightingale,
Sardinian warbler, magpie, jay, oriole, finches and other birds.
The lake is
stocked with prize and rare fish of strictly controlled quality. It is divided
by wire mesh into two parts, with one part of the area of about 3.2 hectares
has organized banks and 30 numbered phishing city. The lake is full of fish,
there are plenty of capital copies. Water is the most abundant carp, bullhead,
and there are plenty, but can be found and grass carp, tench and crucian carp. Fishing
is possible with a permit for one or more days with mandatory reservation.
Fishing on this lake takes place according to strict rules in order to preserve
fish stocks. Each fish is returned to the water, while the samples of up to 5 kilograms
may be purchased. This is the first lake in Serbia, where was introduced a fishing
rule "catch and release".
