Silver lake

Silver lake is an oxbow lake along the right Danube bank in the Braničevo region in eastern Serbia, near the town Veliko Gradište. It is a popular tourist resort.


The lake itself is in the broad, low valley of the Danube, but the neighboring hills rise up from 282m on the north to 362m on the south, while the entire western part of the valley is enclosed by the elongated hill of Veliko brdo and it's highest peak of Anatema(324m).  There are historical sites of the medieval city-fortresses of Ram and Golubac also in the vicinity of the lake.

 
The water is clear due to the lack of pollution and the natural filtration of the water thourgh many sand dunes. The lake is abundant in fish, including white amur, carp, catfish, pike, perch and other freshwater whitefish.

The lake has been a popular holiday and fishing destination for decades, but recently experienced visitor's boom, attracting tourists from all over Central Serbia, despute lack of major accommodations. The lake has one hotel, Srebrno jezero, several restaurants, a weekend settlement and the largest car camping park in Serbia.



As a result of the lake's growing popularity, it has been since recently advertised as "Serbian sea", since Serbia is landlocked. In the next 7 years it is planned build 3 hotels, congresional halls, pools (both covered and opened), golf courses, cycling paths, shopping malls and marina.

Potpeć lake

Upstream of Lim there is Potpeć lake. It is a place much visited for rest and recreation in well preserved nature, as well as for fishing in good conditions, built for needs of the hydropower Potpeć and located at an altitude of 435m. 


The lake has a surface of 3.605km2, its length is 20 km, and maximum depth is 40m. The lake is not touristic valorized, although it has a distinct potential for development of transit tourism.


By the dam of this lake runs the railway Belgrade-Bar, and the highway Belgrade- Montenegro Coast.

Sjenica lake

Sjenica lake or also called Uvac lake, is located between the villages Akmačići and Bukovik in the southwestern part of Serbia, in the municipalities of Sjenica and Nova Varoš, between the mountains Zlatar and Javor.



The lake is a result of the sinking of the canyon and damming the river Uvac in 1979 and the construction of a dam near the village Akmačići. The lake was formed by the river Uvac and is assisted by Vapa river, which flows. It is located at an altitude 985m. It is long 25km, with a maximum depth of 108m and the dam is 160m long and 110m high at the surface of 5.7 square kilometers.



Sjenica lake filled the canyon depths up to 100m, which is widely known because of the unique meanders which Uvac carved in limestone massif Pešter plateau. The lake is part of the Special Reserve Uvac, established to protect the largest colony of griffon vulture in the Balkans. The lake is rich in various kind of fish, like carp, chub, salmon, barbel and catfish.


Zlatibor lake

Zlatibor lake is small artificial lake, a unique decor of tourism, part of Royal Water village in Zlatibor. It was built in 1947. in the center of the village. It is also called Zlatibor sea. The lake is very visited during the year as it is very popular in Serbia.



Lake is long 150m, wide 50m, it is filled by mountain stream Obudovica. In summer it turns into a pool, it is possible to relax on a boat or on paddle boat, while in winter usually gets frozen, but the skating is possible.



The area around the lake is paved. There are walking paths,benches and tall pines. Near the lake there is a large shopping centre , the post office, market and bus station.

Palić lake

Palić lake is a lake situated 8 kilometers from Subotica, near the town of Palić, in Serbia. It is an important tourist center of Vojvodina. The lake is of aeolian origin, and is the largets lake in Serbia occured naturally. It is part of the protected area of Nature Park Palić.



The lake covers an area of 4.6 square kilometers. The average depth is 1.9m, the maximum is 3.5m and touristic sector is about 3.8 square kilometers long, with 3 separete beaches.During the tourist season, the water temperature is between 18 and 25 Celsius degrees.The most frequent wind direction is northwest-southeast.


According to legend, the lake is the rest of Pannonian Sea. The lake was formed in ancient times as the groundwater, though lake water mainly comes from rainfall that filled the valley.

During sixties in the 20th century, there was built a sports center with courts for football, volleyball, basketball and handball. On the east coast a resort community was built, where many companies built resorts for their workers. A modern hotel Palić was built in 2000.




Palić lake is attractive primarily to swimmers, but it's center offers other types of entertainment, sports activities, as well as a tour of nature reserves, bird watching, walking tours and photo-safari. The coast is very attractive because of it's sand dunes, trails for bicyclists and polygons for driving. The lake is rich in fish, and this gives an opportunity for lovers of fishing vacation. The center also provides opportunities for treatmen and recovery. Lake mud is rich in important minerals with medicinal properties, a mineral water with a temperature of 25 degrees of Celsius.
